PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transverse connector which firmly connects two spinal rods to each other, allows some modifications for determining a first relative position of the rode, does not need to be directly fixed to screws, is capable to pass between the vertebrae, and is minimized in size. SOLUTION: Four kinds of clamps slidable along two generally parallel spinal rods 12, 13 are swivel connected to three kinds of transverse connectors positioned between the spinal rods. Two kinds of the clamps use interfitting rotational index locking detents at the swivel connections to fix a final direction of the transverse connectors 16 respective to the spinal rods. The other two kinds of clamps use portions with a locking taper at the swivel connections to engage the rotational index positions to fix the final direction of the transverse connectors with respective to the spinal rods.
|
