<p>PURPOSE: To accurately form a groove for weakening an interior trim part according to the deployment of an air bag by irradiating a laser beam of a specified intensity on the inner surface of an automobile interior trim part cover along an air bag deployment opening pattern. CONSTITUTION: A carbon dioxide gas laser beam source 12 generating a coherent infrared ray laser output beam 14 in a laser scoring device 10 is driven to provide a controlled notch to a part of the internal surface of a polymer sheet material cover 16 covering an air bag device when the air bag device is installed inside an instrument panel. The cover 16 is moved relative to a laser width 12 to trace a specified pattern by the notches of specified rate of a multi-spindle positioning system 17. In this case, the beam 14 is collected to a spot or a small diameter pencil beam using a convergent element 18 in order to form notch lines 20 with reference wide.</p> |
