PURPOSE: To provide an electric cautery device whose safety is improved more by easily and surely judging the type of counter electrode plates and operating a monitor at the time of using the counter electrode plate of a single electrode type and the counter electrode plate of a division type. CONSTITUTION: This high frequency cautery device using the counter electrode plate of the single electrode type and the counter electrode plate of the division type is provided with a counter electrode plate connector 18 for connecting the counter electrode plate 12a of the single electrode type and the counter electrode plate 12b of the division type, a monitoring part 21 for monitoring the state of the counter electrode plate of the single electrode type by a DC voltage, the monitoring part 22 for monitoring the state of the counter electrode plate of the division type by an AC voltage and a means for operating both monitoring parts and detecting the mounting state of the connected counter electrode plates. Then, the states of the counter electrode plates of both types are monitored. |
