A body tissue-compatible infra-red-meltable glass is described which contains, in per cent by weight, based on oxide, 65-68 of SiO2, 0-3 of Li2O, 12-14 of Na2O, 2.5-4 of K2O, SIGMA alkali metal oxides 15-17, 2-3 of MgO, 4.2-5.5 of CaO, 0-2 of BaO, 3-4 of Al2O3, 0-1 of B2O3, and 2.7-4.1 of FeO. Due to its infra-red-meltability and its physiological acceptability, the glass is suitable for encapsulating sensitive materials such as transponders or mini transmitters which are implanted in a living body, or as ampoule glass for melting sensitive substances. |
