FIELD: water deionization. SUBSTANCE: method makes possible extraction and concentration of Pd(II), Ru(III), Pd(IV), Au(III), Au(I), Ag(I), and Hg(II) ions from solution containing multiple ions and which may have high proton concentrations. To do this, solution is brought in contact with a compound containing ligand, sulfur, and electron-accepting group which is covalently bonded through silicon linkage grouping to a solid inorganic substrate. A part or parts of the compound has/have chemical affinity to desired ions to form complexes which are isolated from the compound by bringing it in contact with much smaller volume of receiving solution having greater affinity to desired ions than does this part of the compound.
