<p>PURPOSE: To provide an electric power steering device with a simple structure and low cost capable of controlling a motor according to the steering torque thereby assisting steering effort satisfactorily. CONSTITUTION: In an electric power steering device 10 a rotor 30 can move in an axial direction and approaches to or separates from a stator 40 according to its movement resulting in a gap to be increased or decreased. When a steering wheel is operated, the rotor 30 is moved by a cam mechanism part 68 according to steering torque of a motor input shaft 64 to approach to or separate from the stator 40 whereby a flux density is changed and a motor driving force according to steering effort is given to a transferring steering rod. In addition, an electric power feeding direction to the rotor 30 can be changed according to the steering direction by an electric power feed switching mechanism consisting of electric feed terminals 54, 56, a positive electric feed contact, and a negative electric feed contact, so as to be capable of corresponding to the steering directions on either the right and left sides.</p> |
