Permanent waving agent contains a mixt. of 2,3-dihydroxypropyl-monothiolactate (I) and 2-hydroxy-1-hydroxymethylethyl-monothiolactate (II) as reducing agent opt. mixed with other reducing agents. Also claimed is the use of a mixt. of (I) and (II) as reducing agent in a permanent waving agent for human hair.
