The chain has an outer holder which consists of a side chain (10) and a closing string (12), which is slid through eyes (22,24) on the two ends of the side chain. The eye aperture narrows in a wedge shape, so that the closing chain of the closing string hooks onto the eyes in the assembled state. The wedge angle of the eye aperture is between 20 and 50 deg , preferably between 30 and 40 deg . This aperture may be in the form of a right-angled triangle, in one leg (46) of which the end (20) of the first part (10) of the outer holder fits. The other leg faces the running chain field between the inner and outer holders.
