<p>An apparatus has a unit which moves a closure (C) through stations (16 -18, 84) where, in turn, the closure is heated, receives a dose of pasty plastic from a dispenser, the plastic is preformed into an annulus (18) and finally formed into a seal. Preferably the heating station (16) is a hot air source (19). The preforming and final forming stations (18, 84) are two carousels with preforming and final forming devices respectively. The carousels are connected by a star conveyor for transferring the closures. The preforming device is a circular plate and a fluid cooled flat disc that forces the plastic into a groove in the closure. The forming device has a fluid cooled punch.</p> |
