Traveller sliding on curved rail

The system is for setting the foresail (1) on a sailing boat, to enable it to point higher into the wind when sailing close-hauled. The mainsail (2) is set on the mast and the boom in the usual way. The foresail or genoa is hoisted by a halyard (6) whose lower end is attached to a traveller sliding on a curved traveller rail (3) on the foredeck of the boat. When the boat is sailing close-hauled, the traveller is hauled to the windward end of the curved rail to optimise the setting of the genoa. There are tackles (4,5) on the port and starboard sides of the boat for this purpose.
