<p>The process and apparatus of the present invention limits the output power of a radio in response to the temperature of key components of the radio. Temperature sensors (1025) measure the temperature of the components and send the temperature signals to power control circuitry (1030). The transmit power is measured (1020) at the output of the power amplifier (1015). As the temperature increases, the power control circuitry (1030) reduces the transmit power to reduce the temperature of the key components. The power is monitored so that it is not reduced below the power level required by standards.</p> |
