Bolt holder for bolt welding gun

A bolt holder for a bolt welding gun has a tubular barrel whose diameter corresponds to that of the bolt head (17). The barrel has side slits (5) so that it has a spring-like effect when releasing the bolt. The end of the barrel has an edge section (9) which holds the bolt upright during welding. The inside wall of this section (15) is inclined at an angle (a) to the perpendicular from axial plane (A). The number of slits, length of slits, wall thickness of the barrel and the type of material of the barrel are all chosen such that the force needed to withdraw the bolt from the barrel after welding remains within a certain range. A piston device is used to push the bolt through the barrel and the force required is monitored and when it exceeds a predetermined value, the piston movement is stopped.
