Reinforced glass is coated with a halogen-contg. complex aluminium phosphate which contains at least one chemically bonded molecule of a hydroxyl cpd. ROH (where R is H or an organic gp.). The coating protects the surface of the reinforced glass and prevents damage, esp. for glass strengthened by etching with HCl. Process is esp. useful for treating vehicle windscreen glass.
