The 3 Ù-hydroxyolean-12-en-27-oic acid is prepared by extracting Astilbe chinensis var. davidii with an alcohol & water solvent, concentrating the extract, performing a serial solvent fractionization, separating & concentrating a diethylether fraction having activities, passing the fraction through silica gel chromatography, and gel filtration chromatography successively to obtain the SJ-2221. The obtd SJ-2221 is useful for the prodn. of a natural analgesic component.
