The locking device has a fitting arranged on the load part to which is attached a cable by which the load moved. A locking device is pivotally attached to the load part. The locking part (7) is the form of a lever with a leading surface (20) on its underside. A transmission element (8) connects the pulley-cable (17) and the locking part and transmits the pull movement of the cable into a swivel movement of the locking part. The fitment has a stop-piece (18) restricting the range of movement of the transmission element. A guide (15) for the transmission element extends in the cables pulling direction and is positioned on the fitment. The blocking part has a lug (12) lockable behind a fixed stop piece (13). The pulley-cable runs over two deflector rollers joined to the transmission element at two fixture points (16a,b). <IMAGE>
