The procedure involves cutting a groove (4) round the inner edge of a hollow body (1) and fitting the base (2) into it. The groove and base are of the same depth, and can be cut square or in a dovetail shape. The base is fixed in place in the groove by, e.g. cement or adhesive. A central piece (3), which can be e.g. a granite or marble block, is contained within the hollow body
