The line has an encapsulation pipe (1) and a coaxial HV conductor (2), supported coaxially within the encapsulation pipe by a number of insulating supports (3,4,10,11). The centre axis (7) of the HV conductor lies above the centre axis (8) of the encapsulation pipe, in the vicinity of each support, by an amount equal to half the max sag (d/2). Pref. the supports are provided as columns supporting the HV conductor in the vertical direction, with their longitudinal axes alternately offset in opposite directions by the same angle relative to the vertical plane.
