<p>PURPOSE: To reduce picture quality degradation of transmitted image data with simple configuration by transmitting continuous data, in which an absolute value is smaller than a specified value, while simultaneously converting these coefficient data to a specified intermediate code and inserting it between corresponding coefficient data. CONSTITUTION: A digital video tape recorder 1 successively records inputted digital vide signals in a magnetic tape 2 and reproduces and outputs the recorded digital video signals. In this case, in the image data transmitting method for transmitting the coefficient data provided by orthogonal transformation, one intermediate code is allocated to the continuous coefficient data and the coefficient data, in which the absolute value is smaller than the specified value, are transmitted while inserting this intermediate code at a corresponding position between the coefficient data in which the absolute value is larger than the specified value. At this time, this intermediate code changes a value corresponding to the number of continuous coefficient data and is not used for those coefficient data for which the absolute value is larger than the specified value so that the coefficient data can be easily identified from the other coefficient data.</p> |
