PURPOSE: To obtainα-tocopherol rivative useful as e.g. an antisterility vitamin, lipid depressant, cell aging-proofing agent, antioxidant, consisting of 2,5,7,8- tetramethyl-2-(4',8',12'-trimethyltrideca-11'-enyl)-6-chromanol. CONSTITUTION: This newα-tocopherol derivative as 2,5,7,8-tetramethyl-2-(4',8',12'- trimethyltrideca-11)-enyl)-6-chromanol is expressed by the formula, and useful as e.g. an antisterility vitamin, blood lipid depressant, blood circulation promoter, active oxygen scavenger, cell aging-proofing agent, and antioxidant. This compound of the formula is obtained by the following process: a tocopherol concentrate obtained by molecular distillation of palm crude oil is subjected to a glass column packed with silica get as adsorbent followed by elution with an n-hexane/n-butyl ether system and then with an n-hexane/2-propanol system each as mobile phase, and the eluted product is purified by dispensing high- performance liquid chromatography.
