PURPOSE: To discriminate the kinds of a recording paper, to also discriminate an image signal, and to control the recording paper, especially in the case of an OHP film, so that the film passes through a fixing part when image formation is performed by an electrophotographic system and the film does not pass through the fixing part when the image formation is performed by an ink jet system. CONSTITUTION: As to the recording paper entering from a recording paper carrying path 14, a detection sensor 20 detects the existence of the recording paper, a discriminating sensor 21 discriminates the kinds of the recording paper, and the recording paper is fed to a recording paper discriminating means 1. The signals from the means 1 and an image signal discriminating means 5 are transmitted to a mode selecting part 6. A flapper 7a is switched in the case the part 6 selects the mode. In the case of a plain paper, recording is performed by one of or both of electrophotographic system 2 and the ink jet system of the image forming means, and the paper advances to a carrying path 24 provided with a fixing part 9. In the case of the OHP film, recording is performed by the means 2, and the film advances to the path 24, and advances to the carrying path 25 after printing is performed by an image forming means 3. Stain caused by the ink of the OHP is prevented, so that entire image formation can be performed on the plain paper. |
