<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape drive unit which may be used both for a conventional type of data tape mini-cartridge and for a new type of cartridge greater than the conventional one, and enables secure alignment and latching with the tape drive. SOLUTION: A force 404 is applied from the top surface of a base plate of a cartridge so as to press a reference point 406 on the bottom surface of the base plate toward a backward reference point 408 of a drive and to press the front surface of the base plate toward a stage stopper 156. A force 400 is applied from above a top cover of the cartridge so as to press a reference point 214 on the bottom surface of the base plate toward a forward reference point 306 of the drive. Thus, secure alignment and latching may be performed without providing individual reference points on new and conventional types of cartridges.</p> |
