PURPOSE: To eliminate vibration by a simple structure and to prevent disconnection by providing a head reciprocal drive means for reciprocally moving a plurality of ink jet heads in a main scanning direction in mutually different phases. CONSTITUTION: A pair of ink jet heads 4, 4 same in shape and mass are parallely arranged toward recording paper 100 so as to leave an interval in a sub-scanning direction. Permanent magnets 12, 12 are fixed to the respective ink jet heads 4, 4 so that the mutual magnetic polarities of them become reverse and one drive solenoid coil 13 is provided between both permanent magnets 12, 12. The reciprocal motion (vibration) of the ink jet heads 4, 4 is performed within the elastic limit of support members 6 composed of an elastomer by slight energy. In this case, since two ink jet heads 4, 4 are always driven in reverse directions in exact opposite phases, the reaction forces of them are set off and vibration is suppressed to a large extent. Since the ink jet heads are driven by one solenoid coil 13, the drive circuits thereof become simple. |
