PURPOSE: To provide the silver halide photographic material capable of obtaining a high-contrast image good in original reproducibility even in the case of processing with a developing solution low in pH and good in storage stability and processable in a light room. CONSTITUTION: This photographic material contains silver halide grains containing a heavy metal element selected from Ir, Ru, Rh, and Re at least in an amount of 1×10<-6> mol per mol of silver halide and chemically sensitized silver chloride in an amount of >=95mol% in a silver halide emulsion layer and at least one of silver halide emulsion layers or the other hydrophilic colloidal layers contains one kind of a hydrazine compound represented by the formula: A0 -NHNH-CO-R0 in which R0 is a di- or mono-fluoromethyl group, and A0 is an aromatic group but it has a substituent having a group for promoting adsorption into the silver halide.
