An area of the substrate surface is subjected to a heat treatment and filler particles are added to the partly melted substrate material. A method for forming an adhesive top layer on a non-adhesive synthetic substrate, preferably a polyolefin substrate and especially a recycled polyolefin substrate containing contaminants, comprises the following steps: (a) subjecting an area of the substrate surface to a heat treatment, preferably a thermal spray treatment, so that it forms a region extending from a slightly roughened surface sub-region to a slightly melted surface sub-region; and (b) introducing at least one filler into the substrate surface, preferably using the same thermal spray treatment, the filler particles having a structure which ensures parts of them protrude above the adhesive top layer. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Polyolefin construction elements preferably comprising recycled polyolefin material, provided with an anti-slip and/or wear resistant top layer formed using the above method; (2) Composite material for forming the adhesive top layer, comprising a combination of a polymer (preferably polyolefin) and filler; and (3) Recycled polyolefin pallet having a top side with a non-slip top layer formed using the above method.
|
