发明名称 HIERARCHICAL VECTOR QUANTIZER
摘要 PURPOSE: To retrieve an output vector more optimum compared with conventional technique by using this device for quantizing respective output vectors coupled inside a single code block corresponding to the block size of an input vector. CONSTITUTION: Input vectors *x=(x1 ...xk ) blocked by K pieces of pixel signals of an image are inputted to a hierarchical selector 101 and it is decided whether the input vectors *x are quantized by the units of (n) pieces or not. When the selector 101 decides the quantization by the block sizes of K, a sort part 102 changes the arrangement of input vectors *x having prescribed relation to a prescribed arrangement. Next, a code book address counter (CC) outputs an index (i) to be changed from '1' to 'N' to a code book memory 104 and an index buffer 105. The index buffer 105 fetches the index (i) outputted from the CC and outputs it to a transmission line 106. This index (i) becomes quantized data corresponding to the input vectors *x.
