PURPOSE: To prevent liquid-carrier vapor, generated due to the application of heat, from building up in a housing and leaking out of the main body of the device by performing a fixing process, which involves the application of heat to a toner image on a recording material, by means of a fixing device provided in the airtight housing. CONSTITUTION: When the recording paper carried through the carrying opening 59 of the wall of a vapor chamber 53 by means of a carrying belt 10 is carried to a nip made by rollers 57 and 56, the fixing device 50 fixes the toner image by heating the recording paper with a heater 55. At the time, liquid carrier evaporates because it has been heated, and liquid-carrier vapor is generated from the recording paper. The vapor collecting chamber 53 is kept airtight and hermetically seals the liquid-carrier vapor in it so as to prevent the liquid- carrier vapor, generated from the recording paper when the paper is subjected to fixing and when it is kept in a storage tray 51, from leaking out of the device main body. |
