Fibre glass extrusion - reducing breakage by control of temp and air flow on individual fibres

A large no. of fibres is simultaneously extruded through minute holes in a die by pressure applied to a melt into a tube in which the flow and temp. of the air in the tube are controlled to obviate turbulence and localised currents. The fibres are extruded along cone shaped paths through a tube which is heated along its length to different temps. over different sections by a coil wound around the outside of the (metal) tube, of gradually increasing spacing, over the length through which the fibre diameter is changing asymptotically.
