PURPOSE: To provide the distance measuring device for camera performing a highly accurate distance measurement and realizing miniaturization of a camera while reducing a distance measuring error in a wider photographing range. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a light projecting means projecting distance measuring lights toward an object, that is, light projecting elements 1 (1a, 1b) and light projecting lenses (2a, 2b) and a first light receiving means outputting a first signal corresponding to the incident position of the reflected signal light of the distance measuring light from the object, that is, a first light receiving lens 3a and a first PSD (position detecting element) 4a. Moreover, the device is provided with a second light receiving means arranged at a position different from the first light receiving means and outputting a second signal corresponding to the incident position of the reflected signal light of the distance measuring light from the object, that is, a second light receiving lens 3b and a second PSD 4b and an operation control means 10 controlling the light projecting means and the first and second light receiving means, calculating respectively a first value corresponding the incident position of the reflected signal light based on the first signal and a second value corresponding to the incident position of the reflected signal light based on the second signal and determining the distance of the object based on the first value or the first and second values. |
