摘要 PURPOSE: To convert light energy into hydrogen energy in high efficiency with a photosynthesis microorganism by irradiating the photosynthesis microorganism with light having a wavelength corresponding to the maximum absorption valley of the light-absorbing spectrum of the photosynthesis microorganism to generate the hydrogen. CONSTITUTION: A method for converting light energy with a photosynthesis microorganism by irradiating the photosynthesis microorganism with light to generate hydrogen, the method comprises charging the suspension 5 of the photosynthesis microorganism [e.g. Rhodobactor sp. RV (FERM P-7245)] in a reactor 4, disposing the reactor in a constant temperature water tank 3a, irradiating the suspension with light having a wavelength corresponding to the maximum absorption valley of the light absorption spectrum of the photosynthesis microorganism from a source 1 of white light through a band pass filter 2, introducing the generated hydrogen gas 6 into a glass syringe 8 disposed in the constant temperature water tank 3b through a transport pipe 7, and subsequently replacing water in the glass syringe with the hydrogen gas to store the hydrogen gas. The reactor for producing the hydrogen is combined with one or more of other light energy-converting elements to form a light energy-converting device, and the light energy can thereby be converted into the hydrogen energy in high efficiency.
