PURPOSE: To obtain an amide compound useful as a raw material for nylons by the rearrangement reaction of an oxime compound in the presence of molybdenum and/or tungsten. CONSTITUTION: An amide compound is produced by the Beckmann rearrangement reaction of an oxime compound (e.g. cyclohexanone oxime) in the presence of a molybdenum compound (e.g. MOCl2 ) and/or a tungsten compound (e.g. tungsten chloride) in a solvent (e.g. diethylene glycol dimethyl ether) in an inert gas atmosphere (e.g. nitrogen) at 10-300 deg.C preferably in the presence of a phosphine compound (e.g. trimethyl phosphine) in the reaction system. The amount of the molybdenum and/or tungsten compound is 0.01-50mol% and that of the phosphine compound is 0.01-300mol% based on the oxime compound. Since the process is carried out without using a strong acid, the corrosion of the apparatus can be suppressed and an amide compound can be produced without using an alkali-neutralizing step after the reaction. |
