PURPOSE: To obtain a water-based lubrication agent composed of a compound having hydroxyl group, etc., in the molecule, having excellent extreme-pressure performance, abrasion resistance and stability and suitable e.g. as a water-soluble metal-processing oil for grinding, cutting, etc. CONSTITUTION: This lubrication agent is composed of a compound having one or more hydroxyl groups and SR<1> COOH groups in the molecule and expressed by formula I or formula II (R<1> is a 1-4C alkylene; R<2> is a 4-18C alkyl; R<3> is a 1-18C alkyl, an aryl, an alkylaryl or a polyhydric alcohol residue; A is a 2-4C alkylene; (p) is 0-40; (m) is 1-6), or the like. |
