PURPOSE: To reduce a jaggy image when an image is outputted based on binary image data. CONSTITUTION: Upon the receipt of binary image data, a high resolution multi- value converter 1 takes pattern matching based on a bit pattern in a 3×3 matrix around a given picture element and the binary image data are converted into multi-value image data with high resolution. A D/A converter 2 converts the multi-value image data into an analog signal S1 . Then a comparator 4 compares the analog signal S1 with a triangle wave signal S2 to generate a laser lighting signal based on the comparison result.
