The main body of the catheter comprises an external hose (6), inside which an inner one (8) rotates on its lengthwise axis. One at least of the faces of the hoses towards each other, typically that of the inner one, contains a spiral groove (9), at least near the distal end. A scraping tool can be mounted on the inner hose at this end also, and the inner hose can contain a passage for a guide wire (4). The groove can extend from the proximal end, and a liquid can be delivered via a union into the passage in the outer hose.
