FIELD: metallurgy of rare and scattered metals. SUBSTANCE: intermetallic compound of indium arsenide is pulverized, mixed with pulverized elemental sulfur, and heated until indium and arsenic sulfides InSand AsSare formed. On further heating, arsenic trisulfide is sublimated and condensed on reactor walls, whereas indium trisulfide is remained in reaction zone. To isolate indium, indium trisulfide is oxidized with oxygen at heating until indium trioxide is formed, which is isolated, treated with inorganic acids and subjected to electrolysis to yield metallic indium. Arsenic trisulfide is isolated from reactor and oxidized with oxygen until commercial arsenic anhydride is formed. EFFECT: increased yield, eliminated losses of indium and arsenic, improved operation conditions. |
