FIELD: electrochemistry; water purification. SUBSTANCE: method consists in electrocoagulation with using pulse tension and periodical reversal of tension polarity on electrodes of electrocoagulator. Recurrence period (T) includes n pulses of positive polarity and m pulses of negative polarity each with period τ, pauses between pulses τ, and pauses between recurrence periods τ. Thus, T = (n+m)τ+ (n+m- 1)τ+ τ, where n ≥ m. Tension pulses have quasi-trigonal shape. Parameters of given equation are related to concentrations of impurities in water. When concentration of impurities rises, parameters τ, τ, and n are increased and parameters τand m drop with total number of positive and negative pulses remaining constant.
