FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: invention is related to method and device used for classification of particles, in particular, for classification of particles as diamond and nondiamond ones. In accordance with proposed method each particle is illuminated by pulse of monochromatic light capable of exciting of Raman spectrum in certain particles. Light emitted by particle is filtered from components lying outside of band including Raman spectrum characteristic of given kind of particles. Filtered light is directed to light-sensitive key which can close when receiving filtered light of specified intensity. With closing of light-sensitive key electric pulse is generated and directed on to pulse detector. Particle is classified depending on whether pulse detector detects electric pulse in the course of preset time interval. Initial pulse of monochromatic light may be divided into testing part used for irradiation of particle and supervising part used for control over means of time selection which sets time interval. Given method and device may be used for sorting, specifically, for separation of diamond and nondiamond particles. EFFECT: improved efficiency of separation of particles. |
