PURPOSE: To obtain a method and a device for feature extraction which are simpler than those of conventional technology by outputting a specific face area position signal, a mouth position signal, and an eye position signal as tracking signals. CONSTITUTION: A face constitution part detection unit 31 supplies feature extraction tracking signals A-E having feature extraction parameter values used by a postprocessor which generates face vectors. An output A represents the coordinates of the mouse and is supplied by a band-pass device 3102, and an output B specifies a face box and is supplied by a band-pass device 3103. An output C shows the positions of the right and left eyes and is supplied by a device 3115 which correlates an eye template with a minimum value detection device 3116. An output D specifies the right-side pupil and eyebrow and is supplied by a right-eye detection device 3117, and an output E represents the positions of the left-side pupil and eyebrow and is supplied by a left-eye detection device 3118. |
