PURPOSE: To facilitate the communication between the terminal of LAN emulation protocol specification and the terminal of IP over ATM protocol specification not through a router, in the ATM-LAN. CONSTITUTION: Between an ATM switch 3, connected to the ATM terminal of IP over ATM protocol specification and an ATM terminal 2 of LAN emulation protocol specification, an ATM-LAN connector 1 provided with minimum LAN emulation protocol processing and IP over ATM protocol processing parts 13 and 17, which are equipped with ATM-physical layers 11 and 15 for transmitting/receiving ATM cells and AAL type 5 SAR parts 12 and 16 for assembling/disassembling AAL type 5 packets, to the specified ATM terminal 2 and a bridge part 19 for transforming the frame formats of both the protocol systems, is connected. |
