PURPOSE: To provide a transfer device capable of always and stably transferring an image with high transfer efficiency and excellent sharpness, regardless of low- and high-humidity environment and the degree of an electric resistance value in a transfer material used. CONSTITUTION: In the transfer device provided with a transfer roller (transfer member) 2 pressing a transfer material P on a photoreceptor drum (image carrier) 1 and constituted so that a bias is applied to the transfer roller 2, the transfer material P is introduced into a transfer part A as the pressing part, between the transfer roller 2 and the photoreceptor drum 1 and a transferable image formed and held on the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1 is transferred to the surface of the transfer material P, the volume resistance value of a part or the whole of a transfer material guiding member 4 which is installed in proximity to the transfer roller 2 on the entering side of the transfer material of the transfer part A is set 10<5>Ωcm-10<10>Ωcm. By such a constitution, the actual resistance value from the contact of the transfer material P with the transfer material guiding member 4 to ground is made extremely high and a leakage current flowing into the guiding member 4 from the roller 2 through the transfer material A can be suppressed lower. Consequently, most of transfer current is held on the transfer material P.
