PURPOSE: To make the horizontal orientation property equal for the right and left by making the shape of the luminous face of a light emitting chip symmetrical about the short diameter of an ellipse, in an LED where a rectangular light emitting chip is molded with a lens which is elliptic when viewed from the side of observation of light emission. CONSTITUTION: An LED lamp fundamentally has such structure that the light emitting chip 1 placed at the center of the reflector of a lead frame 3 having a concave reflector is molded with resin 2 in the shape of an elliptic lens. The electrodes of the light emitting chip 1 are electrically connected to the lead frames 3 and 3', being wire-bonded severally with gold. The light emitting chip 1 has a luminous face at the place shown by an oblique line. The luminous face is made roughly symmetrical about the short diameter DS of the elliptic lens consisting of resin 2. Hereby, the orientation property in the horizontal direction of the LED lamp, in short, in the direction of long diameter of the ellipse become symmetrical, whereby the angle of view is enlarged. |
