<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a configuration with which measurement efficiency of a sensor is improved and the effect of reverse flow is limited to minimum by making the profile of by-pass channel of mass air flaw rate sensor housing of an internal combustion engine U-shape, and its inlet narrower as to form ellipse and providing with a deflector which faces its outlet in inclination. SOLUTION: A mass air flow rate sensor 10 contains an electronic module 11 combined with a housing 12 assigned in a main air channel, and a U-shape channel 15 of the housing 12, or a by-pass channel, contains an elliptical inlet 13 which so gradually becomes narrower as to reduce air turbulence. A wedge- like deflector 17 is so situated as to face an outlet 16 of the U-shaped channel 15. The deflector 17 generates law-pressure area adjoining the outlet 16, so that the air flow passing through the U-shape channel 15 is increased. An air flow rate sensing element 14 is situated in the air flow path in the U-shape channel 15.</p> |
