Emulsion comprising an oil phase and aq. phase is characterised in that the oil phase comprises at least one hydrofluoro-carbon of formula RfC2H4OCORh (I). Rf = 4-20C perfluoro-alkyl; and Rh = 1-29C alkyl. Also claimed is a cosmetic, hygienic, pharmaceutical or food compsn. comprising the above emulsion. Also claimed is the use of (I) as an essential constituent of the oil phase of an emulsion.
