Airborne stabilised optical multi=channel weapon sighting system

The system includes a first unit (14) rotatable about an external yaw axis by a steering motor and gearing (34), and a second unit (16) mounted on the first and rotatable about an external pitch axis (17) by a torque motor (88). A fine-adjustment core (18) fitted with a gyroscope (20) is mounted on the second unit and associated with a pointing and stabilising mirror (22). Its steering mechanism is controlled by a servo circuit. The two motors have follow-up system responsive to detectors of the angular displacement of the axes of the core from a canonical position.
