PURPOSE: To thin a device, to reduce connecting resistance and to improve the reliability on electric connection by arranging a linear light source under the end of a base plate on which electronic parts for driving liquid crystal are mounted. CONSTITUTION: A plate-like light transmission body 3 is disposed proximately nearly in parallel with the liquid crystal display element 1 on the back surface of the element 1, and the light source 2 is provided at both ends of the light transmission body 3. For example, a cold cathode tube, an EL, an LED or a fluorescent lamp is used as the light source 2. A plane rectangular frame body 4 is provided on the periphery of the element 1 and the light transmission body 3, and the outside of the light source 2 is covered with the frame body 4. When the electronic parts 6 such as an LSI chip, etc., are mounted on the base plate 1a of the element 1, the number of input terminals on the base plate 1a of the element 1 is reduced, and the element 1 and a circuit board are easily and surely connected. Then, work for preventing the light from being leaked to the outside and reflecting the light is performed to the back surface 3a of the light transmission body 3. |
