PURPOSE: To provide an image recognition device which can perform a stable and accurate collating process even as to an image which lacks partially. CONSTITUTION: This device consists of an image data input means 1 which inputs image data showing an image including an image to be recognized, an image data storage means 2 which stores reference known image data for the collating process, a mask generating means 3 which generates mask data for removing the area of an image not to be recognized having different density from the image to be recognized from the input image data, masking means 4 and 6 which generate masked known image data and masked input image data on the basis of the mask data, etc., a collating means 7 which collates the masked known image data with the masked input image data, and a judging means 8 which gives a judgement on the recognized image on the basis of the collation result of the collating means 7. |
