CHARACTER AND GRAPHIC QUALITY INSPECTING DEVICE

PURPOSE: To obtain a character and graphic quality inspecting device which is versatile by judging whether or not the quality of an image to be inspected is good by using an expanded edge and a structure element for judgement. CONSTITUTION: An edge extraction part 2 performs an edge extracting process for a character to be inspected in four directions, and the extracted edge image is binarized on the basis of a proper threshold. An expansion part 3 performs vector morphological expansion operation for edge images in the respective directions by using the structure element for expansion and expands the extracted edges by specific size at a right angle to the edge directions. A quality decision data generation part 5 generates data for quality judgement by using the structure element for judgement and a quality judging part 7 judges the quality on the basis of the data generated by the generation part 5. The quality is judged by using a neural network.
