<p>PURPOSE: To record contents in a reserved recording time up to the end with good picture quality by controlling the recording operation of the signal to be recorded on a recording medium in response to a residual amt. and adjusting a recordable time to correspond to a recording time. CONSTITUTION: The recording operation is performed, and a comparison is made between a recording time TREC and a tape residual time TS by a microcomputer 6. When the residual time TS is >= a recording time TR1, the progress of a flow chart proceeds to a step ST11. If this time TS for a tape residual amt. is not >= the time TR1, proceeding to a step ST5 is taken. At the step ST11, based on a program discriminating signal SC to be supplied from a signal processing part 9, when a TV broadcasting signal is a commercial part, a 'long time mode' is set, and hence a tape traveling speed is set to 1/3 times as long as a 'standard mode' to carry out its recording, thus reducing a tape consuming amt.</p> |
