PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cancel an increase of a spent cost when a current, existing computer system is graded up. SOLUTION: A converter interface device 100 converts a 1st central processing unit CPU 2 chip into a CPU 1 compatibility chip. This includes a point that the CPU 1 compatibility chip of the CPU 2 is compatible with a CPU chip. The device 100 enables the CPU 2 to have the same pin as the CPU 1. The device 100 has an address converter 120, a data converter 130 and a control bus converter 140. These converters 120 to 140 convert a CPU 2 signal into a signal which adapts itself to the CPU 1. In addition, the device 100 has a bus decoder 150, receives a CPU 1 compatibility signal which was converted from the CPU 2 and decodes the signal for a CPU switching unit 160. The unit 160 receives an external CPU selection signal and outputs CPUs 1 and 2 operating/non-operating signal.
|
