PURPOSE: To realize the optimum sound field control with respect to sound signals of 3 channels in the forward direction and two channels of surrounding. CONSTITUTION: An AC-3 decoder outputs signals in total 5 channels as main signals L, C, R and surround signals SL, SR. The main signals L, C, R and the (SL-SR) signal are synthesized by a synthesis means 30 and given to a main sound field signal generating section 32 to generate a main sound field signal Mo. The surround signals SL<SR and (L-R) are synthesized by a synthesis means 48 and given to a surround field signal generating means 54, from which a surround sound field signal So is generated. A composite sound field signal generating means 60 synthesizes the main sound signal Mo, the surround sound field signal So, and the original surround signals S1, SR to generate a composite sound field signal Co. The main signals L, C, R are sounded from speakers 14, 16, 18 and composite sound field signals FL, FR, RL are reproduced by speakers 20, 22, 24, 26. |
