The motor has the stator (7) and the associated stator winding (8) enclosed by a moulded resin mass (33), filling the space within the motor housing (6), which acts as the mould for the resin mass. The split sleeve (20) is secured to one of the rotor bearings (17), which is formed of deep drawn sheet metal to form a single module, before embedding the stator and the stator winding in the resin mass. Pref. the bearing is made is made of high quality steel, with its outer edge zone projecting radially to form a flange which is coupled to the split sleeve, which pref. has a similar flange projecting radially inwards, with the flanges welded together.
